JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bureau of Land Management, (BLM) Tillamook Field Office seeks an experienced, enthusiastic host or host couple to join our team at Alder Glen Recreation Site! Alder Glen is a popular seasonal recreation site along the Nestucca River Back Country Byway in Oregon’s stunning Coast Range. At the BLM’s eastern most campground in the Nestucca River Recreation Area, visitors enjoy premiere fishing, the picturesque Alder Glen waterfall, and nearby access to the extensive Upper Nestucca Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area.
Host volunteers manage campsite reservations, answer visitor questions, encourage visitor rule adherence, and maintain the site. The selected volunteer(s) must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills, as visitor interactions occur daily. Volunteers are also required to perform maintenance duties, such as landscaping (weed-eating, mowing, leaf blowing) and cleaning (primitive restrooms, litter collection, etc.) Based on these physical duties, volunteers must be able and willing to walk several miles per day and lift up to 15 pounds. Site-based training is provided by BLM staff upon entry on duty.
One paved RV site with public potable water access is provided for lodging.
This position works on site April through September. A full six-month commitment is required.
Please note: Amenities are extremely limited at Alder Glen; there is no cell service, electricity, or sewer hook-ups.
