Forest Service

The Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota will be recruiting for multiple campground host positions for the summer 2021 season. Campground positions range from hosting at large developed campgrounds with electricity and shower buildings to quieter, less developed campgrounds. The Forest is known for lakes and wetlands, big pines, cultural heritage, bald eagles and diverse plant and animal species. Campground hosts enjoy sites along the lakeshore and many recreation opportunities.

The Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota will be recruiting for multiple campground host positions for the summer 2021 season. Campground positions range from hosting at large developed campgrounds with electricity and shower buildings to quieter, less developed campgrounds.

Currently, individuals can apply to general campground host positions on the Forest . If you are interested in hosting at a specific campground on the Forest, please make that note. As the Forest recreation staff learns of specific campgrounds in need of new hosts for the 2021 summer season, we will add that specific campground name to our listing.

Campground host duties include:

  • Welcome campers, gather and provide information about the campground/sites.
  • Maintain campsites (raking, garbage clean-up, mowing, fire rings)
  • Clean bathroom buildings
  • Work with the Forest recreation team in providing positive safe experiences for campers
  • Provide firewood for campers (hosts do not handle money, all firewood donations are put in fee tubes)
  • Assist with posting campsite reservation signs.

Inform campers of fee payment procedures and significant violations that are common to the specific campground, such as double occupancy, ORV use, dogs on leash, and clean campsites. If the group appears to be double occupancy, inform them of options available.
