Job Description
***
Campground Host for small Forest Service campground in heart of the Appalachian Mountains near Hot Springs, North Carolina.
Host will represent the Forest Service at Rocky Bluff campground. The campground is located along highway 25/70 a few miles from Hot Springs, NC, an Appalachian trail town. There are 17 sites on the lower loop of the campground, 12 of which are reservable on recreation.gov. There is a small day use area with a parking lot and picnic tables providing access to a loop trail around the campground. There is little to no cell service, with the closest service a 10-minute drive away in Hot Springs.
The host will be responsible for fee compliance and will serve as a liaison between the Forest Service and public, answering questions and bringing concerns to the attention of FS staff and law enforcement, as appropriate. The campground is maintained under a twice-weekly janitorial cleaning and mowing contract, but the host will be responsible for light grounds keeping and garbage cleanup in between the contractor.
