DESCRIPTION:
Looking for 1 couple to fill the Grounds Maintenance position from May 1, 2021 – September 7, 2021.
Fishhook Park and Campground is located on the shores of Lake Sacajawea in Eastern Washington. The lake is formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River which provides visitors a wide variety of opportunities such as; camping, upland hunting, swimming and water sports. As a grounds maintenance volunteer you will be performing a wide variety of tasks which includes mowing, weed eating, and irrigating the campground and day use area. This also includes trash pick up in the day use area and assisting with answering visitor questions. So if you enjoy the outdoors and meeting new people this would be the perfect opportunity for you! We provide all safety equipment to perform each task and an RV/trailer site with full hook-ups which include water, electric, and sewer.
DUTIES
Site prep – Beginning of season pick up of sticks/branches and camp pad site prep
Mowing and Irrigating
Answering visitor questions
Trash pick up in Day-use area
QUALIFICATIONS
Desire to work a minimum of 28 hours per week and live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV
Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds.
Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps.
Ability to remain calm in busy situations.
Ability to perform grounds maintenance type work (Example: Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and carry roughly 25 feet and work in the heat)
Visually able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position mostly takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
