Looking for 3 couples to fill Park Host positions from May , 2021 – Sept 7, 2021
Fishhook Park and Campground is located on the shores of Lake Sacajawea in Eastern Washington. The lake is formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River that provides visitors a wide variety of outdoor recreation. As Park Host, your primary duty will include printing a reservation report and posting reservation tags for campsites. All reservations at Fishhook are made on-line by the visitors so no money will exchange hands. Other duties include chlorine water testing, cleaning campsites, picking up trash, and answering visitors questions. Your work schedule will be comprised of working two days on (includes being on call throughout night – work hours may vary) and four days off. We will provide all safety equipment, supplies, and training to perform each task. An RV/trailer site with full hook-ups (water, electric, and sewer) will be provided.
DUTIES
Assist with spring clean-up – Beginning of season cleaning of gatehouse and campground picnic tables
Open gate at 6am and close gate at 10:00pm
On call throughout the night
Check-in of campers
Post tags/clean tags
Run reservation reports
Clean campsites / trash pick-up
Perform chlorine water tests
Inform campers of rules
QUALIFICATIONS
Desire to work 2 days on and 4 days off and live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV.
Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds.
Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps.
Ability to remain calm in busy situations.
Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and carry for 25 feet and work in the heat.
Visually able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position takes place indoors/outdoors and my require being outdoors during extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
