DESCRIPTION:
Seeking to fill 2 Grounds Maintenance / Park Host positions from May 1, 2021 to September 7, 2021.
Windust Park is located on Lake Sacajawea in eastern Washington. The lake is formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River. This remote park is perfect for visitors looking for a quiet place to get away from it all. The park provides recreational opportunities for boaters, campers, and anglers. As Grounds Maintenance & Park Host, your primary duties will include; mowing, irrigating, cleaning campsites, and informing campers of the rules. Note: Camping is free at Windust Park and runs on a first come first service basis so you will basically be the eyes and ears for park rangers. Your schedule will be comprised of working 9 hours per day for 3 days with 3 days off (3 days on, 3 days off). We will provide all safety equipment, supplies, and training to perform each task. An RV/trailer site with full hook-ups (water, electric, and sewer) will be provided.
DUTIES
Assisting with Spring Clean – Beginning of season clean of gatehouse, campground picnic tables, and pick up of branches
Mowing and irrigating
Opening and closing park gates at set hours
Being on call throughout the night
Orientating campers
Cleaning campsites
Performing chlorine water tests
QUALIFICATIONS
Desire to work a minimum of 27 hours per week and live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV.
Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds.
Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps.
Ability to remain calm in busy situations.
Physical ability to perform grounds maintenance type work (Example: Physically ability to lift 30 pounds and carry for 25 feet and work in the heat)
Visually able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position mostly takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
