DESCRIPTION:
Volunteer needed for the 2022 recreation season at Yatesville Lake from April 1 – November 1, 2022.
EXPLORE, PLAY, AND VOLUNTEER at Yatesville Lake for the 2022 summer season. Located in Lawrence County, KY, Yatesville offers endless recreational opportunities! Volunteers will assist the park ranger with boat patrol, marking boundary, water safety events, interpretive events, planting wildflower seeds, and picking up litter. Volunteers may also work with the maintenance staff installing birdhouses, painting sign posts, landscaping/trimming, light trail work, and organizing the maintenance shop. All are welcome to apply. Service hours: 15-21 hours/week. Volunteer site has full hookup with picnic table, grill, and fire pit. Laundry facilities available.
Provide assistance to visitors who might have questions, assist park ranger during boat patrols, help mark boundary, and help with presentations and events. Must be able to hike up to five miles with a backpack and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to carry 35 pounds and lift boxes. Volunteers will also assist maintenance staff with painting, trail work, trimming shrubs, and cleaning/organizing. Must be team-oriented and have a desire to work outdoors.
Indoor work requires good customer service skills for school events and presentations. For Outdoor work, should be physically capable to do light maintenance in recreation areas, planting native plants, being on a boat, and carrying tools and materials to a project site.
