JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Dillon Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is seeking individuals or couples to fill a campground host position for the summer 2025 season.

 

Reservoir Lake is a high elevation lakeside campground. Reservoir Lake Campground and day use Picnic Area sit along the lake’s south shores, has vault toilets, drinking water, and a boat ramp. There is no cellular service in the area

 

Scenic trails are offered for hiking. Fishing, swimming and boating are also among the activities to be enjoyed at the campground. There are 16 designated campsites, as well as accessible restrooms and drinking water. This is a pack it in, pack it out campsite. Bear-resistant food storage boxes are available, but there are no garbage services.

 

Reservoir Lake is 11 acres. Power boats are limited to electric motors only. Boat ramp is primitive.

 

All necessary tools, supplies, uniform components, and training will be provided by the Forest Service. Volunteers must have their own hard-sided RV or trailer. The pay rate is $30/day for a 5-day workweek and a campsite is provided.

 

Hours of service will vary depending on time of season and location.  Expect to perform 1 – 3 hours of campground work each day (service bathrooms, check for litter, update reservations, check posts for fee slips, etc.).  Hosts are present in the campground during check-out time (11AM), and in the late afternoon/early evenings (check-in is 4PM) to assist incoming visitors. Hosts work 5 days a week (including holidays and weekends) with two days off. Dates are flexible but will begin around Memorial Day and go through Labor Day.

 

Host Duties:

-Provide a welcoming environment to visitors, help orient, provide information, inform visitors of rules and regulations, direct campers to vacant sites.

-Monitor campground and contact campers for general rule advisement, e.g., leashed pets, food storage, fire safety, parking, quiet hours.

-Perform light maintenance tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, and raking gravel; cleaning and stocking vault toilets; picking up litter around sites or in fire rings.

-Involves walking, raking, shoveling, and working outside in a variety of weather conditions. This may include standing, bending, twisting, carrying, and lifting.

-It will not be your responsibility to collect/count fees or enforce the rules, however you will need to be comfortable speaking with campers about the rules and regulations and encourage compliance.
