Job Description
San Juan County Parks is seeking a Camp Host for the campground at Shaw County Park on Shaw Island. This small campground has 12 campsites, wooded trails, and a sandy beach. Camp Host duties are focused on visitor interaction. This includes helping campers register, answering questions about the island, and reminding people about rules in the park. The Camp Host will work closely with the Park Manager and the Seasonal Park Ranger. Duty hours are 4-7pm, Thursday-Monday. Scheduling changes and time off are possible with sufficient notice. The ideal applicant will have a strong sense of self sufficiency and a small camper trailer or van. Amenities on Shaw Island are limited. There is no gas station or laundromat. The Camp Host will be provided with electricity, water for filling tanks, Wi-Fi, and a propane heated outdoor shower at the park. The restrooms at the park are vault toilets. This position is available starting April 1st and goes through October 31st. A one-month minimum stay is required.
