Join us volunteering at Hartford Beach State Park as a campground host on Big Stone Lake, SD for the 2026 season!
Nestled on the scenic shores overlooking Big Stone Lake, Hartford Beach State Park offers a unique blend of glacial lake beauty and rich history. As a Campground Host, you will be the heartbeat of the campground, helping families and outdoor enthusiasts make the most of their stay in one of South Dakota’s most unique landscapes.
What You’ll Do
– Be a Friendly Face: Greet arriving campers with a warm welcome and serve as a resource for any questions they may have regarding park amenities.
– Maintain the Park’s Beauty: Take pride in the campground’s appearance by cleaning fire rings at designated sites, performing spot cleanings of bathrooms, and ensuring the grounds remain pristine for all guests.
– Reservation Management: Utilize our online reservation system to assist with daily check-ins and check-outs and verify site occupancy.
– Support the Team: Work closely alongside park staff to report any maintenance needs and help communicate park rules to guests, ensuring a safe and quiet environment for everyone.
The Perks
– A Room with a View: In exchange for 24-hours of weekly service, you’ll receive a campsite in the campground equipped with full-hookup at no cost.

Ideal Candidates
We are looking for individuals or couples who: Have a friendly, helpful attitude and enjoy interacting with the public and can commit to minimum 24 hours a week schedule during the peak summer season.
