What is Amazon Camperforce?

Looking for 2022 CamperForce info? Read the latest here.

Whether you’re new to the work camper world or you’ve been doing it for years, chances are pretty good you’ve heard of Amazon CamperForce. If not, no worries, I’ll break it down for you right now. Basically, CamperForce is for RVers who want to be able to work seasonal assignments at Amazon facilities/ warehouse(s). When you break it down and compare it to some other work camping gigs out there, it seems like a pretty sweet deal. I haven’t done it yet myself, but let’s look at some of the details together.

Wages

According to their website, “All Amazon warehouse employees earn at least $15 an hour.” You’ll be paid on a weekly schedule and they do pay overtime. Not too shabby IMO, but it depends on your specific budget and needs of course.

Up to $550 a month per campsite

Amazon will pay up to $550 directly to a participating campground. Now that sounds good but keep in mind you cannot stay wherever you want. You must stay at a participating campground and this does not mean all your expenses are covered in total. There may be utilities, guest, or pet fees and you should make sure to contact the campgrounds directly for all the specifics. To download a .pdf file of participating campgrounds, please follow the link below to the Amazon CamperForce page.

Assignment Completion Bonus

If you manage to stay for the duration of the assignment, Amazon will even pay you a bonus. You’ll get $.50 for each regular hour worked and $1.00 for each overtime hour worked. To that, I say, “Hey Amazon, I like money. We should hang out sometime.”

Benefits

Along with hourly pay, money towards your campsite, and a completion bonus, you will also be eligible for Medical and Prescription coverage after 90 days. I’ve already managed to hurt myself while full-timing it (nothing a couple of staples couldn’t fix!) so if you’re like me, this may be a really good incentive to work for Amazon. They apparently also have a 401(k) plan, which is not something I’d ever think of in terms of work camping gigs but was pleasantly surprised to find out.

If all this sounds good to you, you should check out the Amazon CamperForce site for more information and updates. Availability changes often, so you can check back daily for possible openings or sign up for their text alerts.
