The positions primary duties involve maintenance of the District’s non-motorized trails. This position does not require on site residence but full hook-up sites are available for the volunteer provided RV. The trail volunteer that lives on-site may serve as a backup campground host in addition to performing trails maintenance. The primary non-motorized trail maintenance season begins in the fall and ends in the early spring however; maintenance can be performed year round. This position involves physically demanding field at times and requires that the volunteer work or get caught in a variety of weather conditions (extreme hot, cold, rain, etc.). There are also a variety of stinging/biting insects that may be encountered while working as well as the potential for encountering various wildlife species, including black bears.
