DESCRIPTION:
Seeking Maintenance Volunteer who can commit minimum 6 months of service. Responsibilities include assisting lake maintenance technician with daily maintenance and safety-related projects. Position requires 24 hours of volunteer service per week in exchange for campsite. Must have experience with hand tools, equipment operations, and/or minor electrical and plumbing work.
Under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator or Team Lead, volunteers will assist with maintenance needs at recreation and wildlife areas around the lake. The volunteer may assist in various construction projects as they arise such as masonry, carpentry, painting, roofing, welding, general construction, and equipment maintenance. The volunteer may operate landscaping equipment to include zero-turn or tractor type lawnmowers, push mowers, string trimmers, blowers, herbicide applicators, UTVs, tractors or other heavy equipment, and chainsaws. Landscaping will include mowing, trimming, herbicide application, leaf/debris blowing and pickup, and weeding. Volunteers skilled in a specific tradecraft will be used to oversee projects specific to their expertise. The volunteer may assist the Park Maintenance Volunteer on projects within the park areas. May require mowing, painting, tree trimming, construction. Minor electrical and plumbing experience desired. Volunteer schedules may vary depending on team needs.
Volunteer must possess the ability to work well with all kinds of people. They must be friendly and always represent professionalism in their duties. Must be able to effectively work with other volunteers, staff and contractors. Volunteers are required to provide their own licensed transportation with insurance and fuel for any duties they perform. The volunteer will be required to provide their own living quarters, RV must be presentable, registered, titled and road worthy. Volunteer should be able to work on their feet for long periods of time and in all weather conditions. Most be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have general knowledge in park maintenance and operations or willingness to learn.
Work Environment: Mostly work outdoors in all weather conditions. Working under little supervision and/or in teams with other volunteers and lake staff. Work will occur primarily in park areas.
