Volunteer Activities• Visitor Information • General Assistance Photo Courtesy of FS DescriptionVolunteers will assist at Canyon Lake Recreation sites and provide information, collect data, and direct where to purchase Use Passes to visitors. Volunteers will also assist with parking operations ensuring that traffic coming in and out of these busy areas is done in a safe and orderly manner. Good communication skills are important as these sites are high visitation areas. Other duties include basic grounds maintenance, litter pick up, and  trimming vegetation. Forest Service will provide all supplies and a trailer pad with full hookups, and laundry facilities at Tortilla Flats National Forest Campground 2 miles up the road from Canyon Lake. Work Campers will be required to work a minimum of 24 hours per week, per individual staying at the campground.  Local volunteers are also encouraged to apply.  More detail is provided below.  Acacia is a day use area. Stay limit 1 day, no trailers, day use only. Glass containers are prohibited at this lake. No pets in the swimming site. There are 40 day-use sites w/ ramadas, picnic tables, & grills, but no drinking water available. Entry is closed when the site is full. Many of the valley’s radio stations carry advisories concerning lake conditions and closures. Boating – Non-Motorized; there are no designated docks, ramps, or launch sites. Beach landing. Lake and Pond Fishing; Canyon Lake Fish Species: Rainbow Trout; Largemouth, Smallmouth and Yellow Bass; Crappie; Sunfish; Channel and Flathead Catfish; Walleye Boulder is a day use area. The Boulder recreation site is located on Canyon Lake just south of the Canyon Lake Marina. Boulder offers a fun get-a-way close to a very popular area during the summer months. At this site, individuals can fish off of the dock or launch a non-motorized boat and paddle in the area. Picnicking units are available with grills, tables, and restrooms. Boulder is perfect for families and friends getting together for a day in the sun. One day stay limit. Glass containers are prohibited at Canyon Lake area. Please use trash receptacles. No motorized watercraft. Palo Verde is a day use area.  Palo Verde is a boat launching site near the beautiful Canyon Lake. Palo Verde allows users to picnic, fish, and enjoy general boating activities in one of Arizona’s most scenic reservoirs. Recreationalists can enjoy the day around the water during a hot summer to cool off, photograph the gorgeous surrounding mountains, or try to catch some of our native Arizona fish at the water’s edge.       HOUSING & AMENITIESType: Trailer/RV PadsDescription: Full Hookups available at Tortilla Flats National Forest Campground for a minimum of 24 hours per week of work.
