Volunteer Activities• Construction/Maintenance • Computers • Trail/Campground Maintenance • Back Country/Wilderness • General Assistance Description  OVERVIEW We are looking for a motivated, local individual to assist the Golden Gate Roads crew provide safe travel ways and parking areas for visitors to access and enjoy the Park.   POSITOIN DESCRIPTION As a Landscape and Maintenance intern you will work in areas throughout the park to assist the Roads Crew Supervisor inventorying roads infrastructure, with a focus on culverts and drainages, and update data collected into the database system. The inventory program will assist the Roads Crew in assessing, prioritizing and scheduling maintenance actions. You will also work with vegetation management and minor infrastructure upkeep to help maintain safe and easy access to the park’s amenities.    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES •             Learn to assess culverts and roads to rank their condition for work prioritization. •             Use hand and power tools for minor road maintenance and clearing vegetation. •             Collect, organize and enter data collected into database systems. •             Digitize and organize photo collections. •             Research print and organize updated Safety Data Sheets. •             Assist with researching, ordering, pick-up and delivery of equipment. •             Other duties as assigned.   BENEFITS •             Learn to use technical applications such as ARC-GIS or similar systems to assess culvert and road maintenance needs. •             Training in hand and power tool operation such as pruners, weed eaters, blowers, etc. •             Opportunity for personal/professional development days including Intern Swaps, Park Academy workshops, and cross divisional trainings. •             Opportunities to work with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds that share a common interest in preserving and protecting our nation’s natural and cultural resources. •             $75.00 per day stipend available (without housing) or $45.00 per day with housing •             Uniform provided   DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS •             Valid driver’s license and background check required. •             Ability to safely operate vehicles including a mid-sized pick-up truck. •             Experience with data collection and entry a plus. •             Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT •             Work in both office and field environments •             Ability to sustain strenuous physical activity; walk over uneven terrain, on steep hills and through dense vegetation.
