The White Mountain National Forest has an awesome opportunity for active retirees! We are currently seeking a part-time volunteer Visitor Information Assistant to join us at the Lincoln Woods Visitor Center (cabin) located in Lincoln, New Hampshire, off exit 32 on Kancamagus Highway. One of the busiest trailheads on the Forest. The position you will be providing Forest Information to walk-in visitors and communicating. and for Outdoor recreationalists find Lincoln Woods an excellent starting point for summer activities. There are unlimited recreational opportunities in the White Mountain National Forest. We are seeking a volunteer to assist the Recreation and Facilities Programs by helping with various projects at our cabin at Lincoln Woods. Duties include but are not limited to: Taking down and installing signs in the field using hand/power/cordless tools at the cabin. Painting preparation such as washing and scraping Protecting ground and other surfaces from paint splatter with the use of ground cloths, painter’s tape, etc. Painting with brushes, rollers, spray cans, etc. Cleanup of site and equipment. Cleaning toilets and removing trash in recreation sites. The volunteer should always have a professional, courteous and helpful attitude when dealing with all members of the public, fellow volunteers and Forest Service employees. The volunteer will be trained in and adhere to all Forest Service safety and customer service procedures. Required skills and abilities: Standing and sitting for long periods Light to moderate lifting, 15 – 50 lbs. Not adversely effected by dust, loud noise, paint and chemical fumes Familiarity with common power tools. A valid driver’s license and good driving record Other helpful (not required) skills and abilities: Painting. The ideal candidate should enjoy a stimulating work environment and be willing to contribute a minimum of three 8-hour days per week between May 3 and November 2, 2020.
