Volunteer is responsible for staffing the information desk at the White Sands National Park Visitor Center. Description of Duties Provide information, politely and competently, about park programs and policies to the visiting public. Operate cash register in accordance with established procedures forWestern National Park Association transactions. Additional opprotunies such as leading public programs and roving park trails may be available. Special Requirements: Volunteer will need to spend a major portion of the work time standing. Supervision: Visitor Center Desk volunteer will work under the supervision of the Lead Park Ranger. Work Environment: Work is performed primarily indoors. Project Duration: Ongoing (2-3 month minimum) Hours per month: 32 hour minimum (local area volunteer) 128 hours per month (if RV/trailer pad is used) Hours per week: 8 hour minimum (local area volunteer) 32 hours per week (if RV/trailer pad is used) If a couple volunteers, the minimum hour requirement may be reduced.
