JOB DESCRIPTION:

Volunteer with the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Stanley, Idaho. Two volunteer positions available in the Maintenance and Facilities Division. Day to day work will include historic building preservation projects, exterior painting, basic carpentry, installing light fixtures, basic plumbing, irrigation system maintenance, and lawn care. Preference given to work experience in the trades.

 

Housing: Applicant will be reimbursed with quarters. An on-site RV pad with full hook-ups (water, power, propane, sewer) will be available for 32 hours each week. RV pads are available in Stanley, ID and at the Sawtooth Valley Work Center, 15 miles south of Stanley.

 

Area Information: The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (Sawtooth NRA) consists of 756,000 acres of beautiful mountainous scenery. The Sawtooth NRA includes the Sawtooth Wilderness, Cecil D Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness, and the Hemmingway-Boulders Wilderness Areas. The Sawtooth NRA has over 700 miles of trails, 40 peaks rising over 10,000 feet and 300 plus high-elevation alpine lakes that add to the spectacular scenery and vistas. Recreational pursuits include outdoor activities like camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, boating and rafting, observing nature, photography and bicycling.
