ADDRESS: PO Box 1888, 340 North Cache  null, Wyoming, 83001

DATES: 2025-05-26

DEPT: Forest Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for volunteer ambassadors to assist with front country patrol efforts on the Kemmerer District. The volunteers will be based out of the Ham’s Fork Campground, which is located on the Big Spring Scenic Backway north of Kemmerer. A campground site will be set aside for the campground host’s exclusive use. There is no RV hookup available, and we will not be able to provide a camper or other housing. The Campground has 13 sites and 2 vault toilets. The Ham’s Fork Campground is a good base camp for recreating on the south end of the Kemmerer Ranger District, with just a short drive to Big Spring for a picnic, a scenic drive up Hobble Creek, a variety of hiking trails, and fantastic fishing in the Hams Fork River. Couples are encouraged to apply!

Tentative dates are from May 26 – November 1 (the District is accessible based on snowmelt in the Spring and closed based on snow load in the Fall). Time commitment per week will likely be between 24-30 hours.

Requested duties:

·        Clean (restock toilet paper, sweep, and/or pressure wash) restrooms as needed. Toilet sites are located at: Kelley Guard Station, Hobble Creek Campground, and Ham’s Fork Campground.

·        Inspect State UTV/ATV stickers to verify compliance with registration requirements

·        Clean campsites as needed if there is litter

·        Communicate with Forest Service staff to address issues that may arise (trees fallen down in campsites and roads, broken features at campgrounds, concerns regarding aggressive visitors, requests to restock supplies, etc.)

·        Perform basic campsite care, up to and including the use of hand tools and power tools such as weedwhackers

·        Identify needed repairs to road signs and trail heads

·        Provide a presence on the District during hunting season.

·  Data collection via a survey app

A government vehicle equipped with power washer can be provided. Scheduling for the vehicle will depend on whether there are two volunteers working concurrently or consecutively during the field season.
