Job Description
Lodge Manager
Roles: Maintenance of property and managing employees, taking care of the landscaping, lawn care, & gardening. Housekeeping ans well ans organizing cleaners, and maybe most importantly performing customer service in the hospitality industry…..There will be many tasks at hand that become obvious when you start – like getting supplies at the store or getting them ordered, or doing some watering of the flowers, or organizing some gift shop items or pricing antiques we sell, or maybe doing some advertising on social media or at our booths at the state fair which is a little like a trade show for the lodge weddings as well as for antiques/gift shop. Your job will be making sure everybody’s respecting the Lodge and its rules-both guests and employees. I need preparation for the season in May, which requires hard-working inconsistent hours and maybe putting your heart and soul into it. And then once the season starts up, there’s a lot more leisure time to have a flexible schedule yet still work every day. It’s a seasonal job so it’s not a 9 to 5 Monday through Friday job. Management pretty much makes you “on-call” 24/7 but you don’t work 24/7. I need a hard worker who enjoys working and loves their job and will enjoy being in Alaska and running a fishing lodge on the Kenai River. We will help manage from a different location through phones.
Once the season finally starts, the main focus will be on the changeover days. These are the days when people check in and check out and we have six hours in between check-outs/check-ins to get the Lodge completely ready and “changed over.” This requires more “preparation” work than meets the Eye. The planning for the linens must be taken very seriously to ensure that the changeover is done in a timely manner so as not to waste the crucial hours during the change -over. Six hours can be plenty of time for a change over if the necessary preparation steps have been taken.
I would like a positive environment created by this person taking on this job so that the other employees can feel good about their work creating a a wonderful fun environment for the lodge overall. Another big part of the job is the tours. I have to sell weddings throughout the whole season and tours given to the potential grooms and brides is a key component of making this business a success. In the less stressed days during the private rentals, there are various jobs to keep you busy like organizing the sheds, the office, the gift shop, and sanding and staining the wood or making a new arbor.
