JOB DESCRIPTION:
Bring your positive people skills to South Florida and join our outstanding team of dedicated volunteers. This is a great opportunity, for a couple to work together, as Campground Host volunteers, at Ortona South campground. The campground is located on the Caloosahatchee River at the Ortona Lock and Dam off state route 80, west of Clewiston and 8 miles east of Labelle. Both cities offer supply shopping and assorted restaurants. Nestled between the river and a large pasture are 51 nicely space sites which allow for privacy and relaxation. The 51 sites include 3 pull through, 3 handicap and 2 family sharing sites.
Campground volunteers must be of a friendly professional demeanor and will assist the Park Ranger as needed with all operations of the Ortona South Campground and gatehouse. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
—Utilizing the R1S computer program to make reservations for campers (training will be provided)
—Selling America, the Beautiful discount passes
—Accounting for credit card transactions
—Recording campground logs
— Reporting any infraction and concerns to the Park Rangers. Volunteers are not to police the campground. Volunteers are to acknowledge the first infraction, for the second they are to involve the park ranger and step away
—Providing visitors and campers with local area information in-person, by phone, or by email
—Cleaning up campsites: fire ring, grills, tables, and weeding
—light maintenance to include but not limited to painting, fixing picnic tables and benches, and signs.
—restroom-cleaning when needed
Must maintain USACE standard professional appearance and interact with the visiting public while both on and off duty as site is on the campground and visible to all campers. Must be willing to abide by the USACE Volunteer Agreement and submit a standard background check (required by USACE volunteers).

HOUSING & AMENITIES
Type: Trailer/RV Pads
Description of site: is full hook up with 30/50 amp pedestal. This site is provided for a 4 day on with a 4 day off shift.
