ADDRESS: 1000 US Hwy 36  Estes Park, Colorado, 80517

DATES: 5/1/2025 – 10/31/2025

DEPT: National Park Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Please thoroughly review the following description for details and instructions on filling out your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

We are recruiting for one remaining campground host position at Moraine Park Campground. There is an ongoing construction project at Moraine Park Campground, and there may be construction activity adjacent to the host site throughout the season. Volunteer must be comfortable living and working next to an active construction site. There may not be electric, water, or sewer hookups at this host site. Learn more about Moraine Park Campground on our website.

The site can accommodate an RV or trailer that is up to 35 or 40ft in length. Electric hookups are 30 or 40 amps, and adapters may be available.

There is not yet a firm opening date for Moraine Park Campground, but hosts should plan to be available May 22nd through October 20th, 2025. Please note that hosts who are able to serve the entire season will be given priority, but partial seasons may be considered.

Schedule: 3 days on, 3 days off. You will work with at least one other campground host. Hosts will need to serve at least 32 hours a week to qualify for park housing, (an RV/trailer site) but may be required to serve more. Specific days/hours of shifts will be decided between the hosts and the campground supervisor. It is unlikely that you will work the same days of the week, every week. For example, you might work Monday-Wednesday one week, Sunday-Tuesday into the next week, Saturday-Monday into the following week, etc.

Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning out fire pits, removing debris from campsites, encouraging compliance with campground rules, reporting any disturbances to the park’s law enforcement, and following instructions from park staff. Volunteers will be required to work long hours on their feet.

All campground hosts who are selected will be required to:

  • Complete and pass a federal background investigation
  • Complete CPR/First Aid/AED Training and be physically able to provide CPR
  • Complete volunteer paperwork via Volunteer.gov
  • Report volunteer hours via Volunteer.gov (if campground has service) or a paper timesheet (only if cell service is not available)

In your application, include the following in the ‘Previous Volunteer Experience’ section:
  • Any past experience serving as a campground host for a national park, national forest, state park, or other campground. You are welcome to add additional volunteer experience that does not relate to campgrounds, as well.

In your application, please include the following in the ‘Any other additional qualifications?’ section:

  • Your dates of availability
  • The length of your trailer/RV

Recruitment via Volunteer.gov will continue until all positions are filled. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
