JOB DESCRIPTION:

Description

Program Overview: The Bureau of Land Management, Vernal Field Office, is looking to fill vacancies (individual or couple) as campground hosts in the Browns Park area of northern Utah. Hiring preference will be given to individuals who can commit from approximately Mid-May through Mid-September. Selected candidates will be provided a host site in the Indian Crossing Campground with water, electric, and septic hookups for the duration of the season. Selectees will need to provide their own hard-sided RV or travel trailer. A modest daily stipend is available.

Major Duties

Camp hosts reside at the campground and are responsible for greeting visitors and helping solve problems in a friendly professional manner. Hosts are expected to work 32 to 40 hours a week including weekends and holidays when visitation to the campgrounds increases. Duties include working with BLM staff on cleaning and upkeep of the campgrounds and associated facilities, light maintenance and trails work, and act as a public contact for the BLM. The Indian Crossing campground consists of 20 developed sites and the Bridge Hollow campground includes 11 developed sites.

About the Area

At 5450 feet above sea-level Browns Park provides a unique experience for the summer. The Green River flows by the campgrounds and provides excellent trout fishing as a Utah Blue Ribbon fishery; in addition to rafting, kayaking, and floating the river. Browns Park has hiking and OHV opportunities, and the adjacent John Jarvie Ranch interprets the rich history of settlers, outlaws, and traders. The nearby Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and Ashley National Forest also provide many other interesting opportunities.

The campground is approximately 30 miles from the town of Dutch John, UT, 60 miles from Rock Springs, WY, 75 miles from Vernal, UT.
