Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supporting the directives of the General Manager and maintaining smooth operation of the lodge in the General Manager’s absence.  The primary focus of this position is ensuring that all areas of the resort are meeting and/or exceeding the guests’ expectations.  The Assistant General Manager is directly and solely responsible for the effective daily operation of the Front Office, and is expected to additionally provide support to the Housekeeping, Dining Room and Corral departments.  This position generally works a 50 – 60 hour work week.

Job responsibilities

  • Train the Front Office employees on the policies and procedures of Jenny Lake Lodge.
  • Maintain scheduling and payroll for the Front Office according to business levels and labor budget.
  • Ensure that the Front Office Service levels are meeting and/or exceeding brand standards and AAA Four Diamond Standards.
  • Coach, council and discipline employees as necessary according to company policies, procedures and brand standards.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Executive Housekeeper, Dining Room Manager, Location Chef and Corral Foreman.
  • Monitor and respond to guest comment cards.
  • Attentively and politely respond to all guest concerns or complaints and follow up to insure the guest has received a satisfactory resolution.
  • Respond to all emergency situations at the Lodge and take charge of the situation in the absence of the General Manager or GTLC Security.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

The “must haves” for this position include

  • 2 years of Hospitality experience or 2 years of college level education
  • 1 year of Supervisory experience
  • 1 year of Front Desk experience
  • Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Windows and Property Management Systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent People Skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Successful Completion of MVR
  • TIPS certification

 

We prefer that you additionally have the following skills / experience, but it is not required

  • Hospitality Degree
  • Luxury Hotel experience
  • Be genuinely concerned about the environment and recycling
  • Have good communication/people skills

This is a summer position. Our season typically runs from May through early October. Candidates must be available to work until the end of the season.
