DESCRIPTION:

Volunteer will assist with the maintenance of assets, associated with the Johnson City and Ranch site, leaving them unimpaired for future generations to enjoy. As a result, volunteer will provide visitors an opportunity to have a safe, enjoyable, and educational park experience.

Volunteer will be an integral member of the park’s Maintenance team. The main function of this position is to provide assistance and supplement skill functions within the maintenance divisions daily and special projects tasks.

 

DUTIES

·        Grounds Maintenance

·        Roads and Trails Maintenance

·        Trash Pickup

·        Structural Maintenance

·        Custodial (vacuuming, replacing soap, paper towels, and toilet paper, empty trash and recycling, sweep, mop and wax floors, wash windows and etc.)

·        Minor Electrical repairs

·        Minor plumbing repairs

·        Maintenance Administrative Duties

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Skilled in the safe and expedient operation of hand tools and hand-held power tools (hammers, shovels, hoes, levels, squares, carpenter level, plum and chalk lines, vacuum, floor scrubbers and polishers, cordless drill, etc.)

·        Must be able to maneuver motorized equipment in open areas, confined spaces, on even ground, in traffic and other congested areas involving pedestrians and vehicles efficiently and safely.

·        All volunteers may be able to safely operate, control and motorized equipment only after completing all operating and safety training courses.

·        Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.

·        Experience in an office setting.

·        Valid driver’s license.

·        Be able to follow National Park Service environmental & historic preservation rules

·        Works well both as a team and independently

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Volunteer may work outside/inside for long periods and be subject to unpleasant odors, dust, and high humidity. Temperatures and humidity can be high. Volunteer may be subject to grease, dirt, dust, soiling of clothing and skin surfaces, noise vibrations, fumes, and working in water. Volunteer may be subject to discomfort from wearing personal protective equipment for long periods.
