ADDRESS: Tellico Ranger District
250 Ranger Station Road
Tellico Plains, Tennessee 37385

DEPT: Forest Service

DATES: 4/10/2024 – 11/2/2024

DESCRIPTION:

The Tellico Ranger District of the Cherokee National Forest is looking for a motivated volunteer to help with general maintenance tasks at the Indian Boundary Recreation Area Campground. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and sewer systems, as well as other various maintenance tasks. The candidate would report to Forest Service Recreation Technicians to assist with campground maintenance that may incorporate, but are not limited to, fixing electrical hookups, mowing, weed eating, and handling plumbing issues.

Indian Boundary is the crown jewel of the Cherokee National Forest. The 87-site campground is sectioned into multiple loops which accommodates RVs and tents, with five bathhouses with flush toilets and showers. It is also home to a primitive overflow campground adjacent to the main campground, which has 2 vault toilets, 3 water faucets, and a dump station. The campground is open from early April to early November, and the ideal candidate would be able to volunteer for the entire season. The candidate will be provided with a campsite with full hookup.

More about the campground: Indian Boundary also has a small convenience store with goods such as food, camping supplies, firewood, and boat rentals. There is also a 96-acre lake that offers a swim area with sand beach, fishing opportunities, and picnic sites. Wildlife is abundant in this area, so have your camera ready and tread lightly. On the drive up to the campground, stop at one of the many observation overlooks to enjoy the beautiful views. Directions: in Tellico Plains, turn left onto TN 165 (Cherohala Skyway) for approximately 17 miles. Turn left onto FR 345 and follow signs for Indian Boundary Recreation Area.
