Job Description

Totem Bight is a day use park located 10 miles north of Ketchikan.

Ketchikan is located on an Island in Southeast Alaska, accessible by barge or ferry. It is the only park in the Alaska State system dedicated to Southeast Alaska Native Culture. The park exhibits 14+ totem poles and a clan house, hand-crafted 75+ years ago by Native carvers in the area. A short self-guided trail winds through the rainforest to the totem display which faces an ocean passage. Commercially guided tours from cruise ships frequent the park. Must have own RV or camper. Couples preferred but not required.

Host Duties: Be available, on a part time basis, to assist staff with garden, light grounds maintenance and janitorial duties; open and close the historic clan house daily. Fold interpretive guides. Approximately 12-17 hours/week in duties. Park is closed from 10pm to 6 am so the host gets some personal quiet time and privacy.

Special Projects: Assist staff with any special events.

Amenities: Subsistence payment $250/month. Free water, WiFi internet, electricity hook up, solid and liquid waste hook up provided.

Caretaker RV site is located at the beach, facing the west with beautiful sunsets. 4 mile bike trail nearby, as well as a bus stop. Services located in Ketchikan. Host gets two days off a week.

Season: 6 months, from 5/1 – 9/30. Full season preferred. Winter season is also available (no subsistence payment during winter months)
