Job Description

North Road (Dispersed camping host)/Jasper Point Campground Relief

At Prineville Reservoir, we regard our park hosts as integral members of our team. Your contributions, efforts, and ideas are always valued.

As OPRD’s first designated IDA park (International Dark-sky Association), Prineville Reservoir offers exceptional star- gazing opportunities.

The host site for this position is located at the Jasper Point campground (3 miles up the road from the main park). The site has full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer). Reception for cell phones is limited for folks with AT&T and T-Mobile. Those with Verizon or US Cellular typically have full coverage. Wifi is available by the laundry facility.

The Main responsibilities include: cleaning out rock fire rings, performing general landscaping (weeding, string trimming, blowing, raking), performing light cleaning in CXT restrooms, safely operating a UTV (CanAm side-by-side), litter pick-up, and maintaining steady communication with rangers to ensure safety and appropriate usage of resources in a dispersed camping area. We also ask that this position assist in the sales of firewood and ice (when back in Jasper Pt campground) through the operation of a small change fund and Self Registration Envelopes.

We ask that this host maintains a steady flow of communication with the Jasper Point Campground host. Maintenance of the campground will always take precedence over the North Road dispersed camping area, so assisting the Jasper Point hosts on the weekends may be necessary. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, this host will remain in the campground to cover the Jasper Point host’s duties.

These duties include: removing wood, ash, and trash from fire pits, picking up litter, and cleaning the small, single cabin between guests.

For single hosts, we ask for 20-30 service hours/week. For a pair of hosts, we ask for a combined 30-40 service hours/week (Wednesday-Sunday with Monday/Tuesday off). We ask for dispersed camping maintenance/campground and cabin maintenance (2-3 hours) to be completed between 11am and 3pm. We would like hosts to be available from 6pm-8pm to assist in the sale of firewood and ice. We gladly make accommodations for occasions where hosts would like to go to town for groceries, dinner, etc. We just ask for communication, so all duties can be covered.
