JOB DESCRIPTOIN:

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity! Are you looking for a place to stay near Gardiner and Yellowstone National Park? Do you love the outdoors? Then this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Volunteer Opportunity: Carbella Campground is a semi-primitive campground located in Emigrant, MT, on BLM land approximately 18 miles north of Gardiner, MT, and the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The campground is located along the beautiful Yellowstone River. The campsite is a popular location for campers, rafters, and fishermen. This site includes a concrete boat ramp, which offers easy river access. Major duties include maintaining 16 campsites and 3 vault toilets, educating campers about campground rules, and ensuring compliance with the BLM special recreation permit program. Stay limit for campers is 14 days. All campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no fees for the public at this site.

Benefits: An amazing location near Yellowstone National Park. Wildlife is abundant. Volunteers will be provided BLM shirts, a hat and a nametag. Incidental cleaning supplies, maintenance equipment, and tools will be provided by the BLM. For each full day volunteered, you will receive $30 per day for reimbursement.

General Host Duties: Be a courteous, professional and friendly campground host. Provide visitors information about the area and campground rules and regulations. Assist with site maintenance. Volunteers are asked to clean the restrooms daily on their work days and to provide routine maintenance where needed. Volunteers will also educate campers about campground rules and assist with permit compliance for fishing guides, raft shuttles, and other commercial uses.

Working Hours: The volunteer will work a minimum of 4 days in each 7-day period. Schedule will be coordinated with the Outdoor Recreation Planner. Working hours are flexible. Volunteers are expected to work weekends and holidays, since this is when peak activity occurs. The campground is open year-round, but we only ask volunteers to be there from May through September.

Training: Volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory volunteer orientation. Volunteers will receive orientation regarding the rules and regulations of the BLM, the site, and the volunteer program.

Housing: The host shall provide their own RV or camper trailer. The use of a tent as the only means of housing is not permitted as this area is located in grizzly country. There are no hook-ups available on-site unfortunately this is a dry campground.
