Job Description

The Grandfather Ranger District is seeking an individual or couple to serve as campground host at the Mortimer Campground in Caldwell County in western North Carolina.
Host will provide recreation and trail information, advise campers on fee process, refurbish supplies in two bathhouses as needed, pick up trash, clean fire receptacles, and perform light maintenance as skills provide. Volunteer will maintain communication with district personnel and law enforcement as needed.
The schedule is Friday – Sunday and Monday if holiday weekend with weekdays off.

Campground host should be friendly and enjoy meeting visitors and providing information. Hosts should be able to perform light maintenance at sites and trash removal. Light lifting of trash bags.

Mortimer Campground is a 17-unit site located in Caldwell County in the beautiful Wild and Scenic Wilson Creek corridor. Formerly, a Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) camp, it is a very popular area for fishing, water activities, waterfalls and hiking trails. The town of Lenoir is approximately 19 miles to the east with Blowing Rock approximately 25 miles to the north.
