RV INFORMATION: 32 hours a week/per person, grants you one RV Pad that is 24 feet in length. This includes electrical hook-ups, water, and sewer. *Please do not apply if your RV/Trailer is longer than 24 feet.

Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Trail/Campground Maintenance • Visitor Information DescriptionCampground Host Duration: Mid-May – Mid-October *Restricted to RV’s/Trailers no more than 24 feet long. This position is within the Resource and Visitor Protection Division at Acadia National Park. The volunteer will be stationed at Blackwoods, Seawall or Schoodic Woods Campground. The NPS will provide a trailer site with utilities (water, sewer, and electric hookups) within the campground. The campground host will provide their own RV/trailer. The majority of the campground hosts duties are maintenance related such as cleaning ash from the fire rings and picking up litter around the campground. Our camp hosts also typically perform minor projects such as painting site numbers on the road and making minor repairs to damaged site posts and picnic tables. We also expect our camp hosts to be out in the campground interacting with campers – that includes distributing notices to campsites, answering questions about the campground, providing information about the park and trails, and communicating policies and regulations to campers. Camp hosts are expected to use a utility vehicle on the job. The position is expected to last from mid May through mid October. Major Duties Maintain assigned campsite in accordance with all park regulations and set a good example for visitors. Use a park radio professionally and properly. Perform litter control and cleaning of campground grill/fire pits. Report campground maintenance needs to park rangers. Perform moderate maintenance duties including; painting, repairing picnic tables, etc. Interpret campground regulations for visitors and report law enforcement issues to park rangers. Report any safety hazards, in or out of the campground, to supervisor. Provide information about the park and local area Assist visitors after hours on occasion. Requirements Possesses own recreational vehicle – does not require government housing. Must work at least 32 hours/week in order to receive free RV spot. Enjoy meeting, talking with, and helping people from all over the world. Possess a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor with all visitors and co-workers. Ability to assist campers in order to ensure their safety and enjoyment of the park. Capable of dealing with stressful situations in a professional manner. Ability to follow directions and work as a team player. Properly wear the Volunteer In Parks (VIP) uniform, including only wearing the uniform and/or uniform parts while on official duty.
