——

ADDRESS: White River National Forest; PO Box 190; Minturn, Colorado 81631

DEPT: Forest Service

DATES: 5/25/2022 – 9/30/2022

DESCRIPTION:

Being a host means interacting with the campers on a day-to-day basis, living in the campground in your own hard sided RV/Camper, cleaning restrooms, sites, picking up litter, and being the security presence at the campground. We are installing the off-grid solar package to the host site this spring. It will have ground mounted solar panels (30amp system), hard wire to satellite system for communications, and in-ground septic tank. 5-gallon water jugs can be delivered weekly for drinking water

Host will represent the FS via wearing a uniform or FS hat/vest. They will be present Friday-Sunday at a minimum to greet campers (schedule negotiable), politely request campers follow the rules, ask campers to pay their camping fee, clean restrooms, clean fire pits, perform some maintenance at the site (staining table, fixing signs, installing signs, and weed whacking etc). This is a pure volunteer position, no financial compensation is offered, however propane and potable bottled water can be brought to the site.

DUTIES

Host will be on site a minimum of Friday through Sunday focused during morning and evening hours to welcome campers, encourage that fees are paid, encourage regulation compliance, clean restrooms, clean campsites, and perform other campground maintenance work.

QUALIFICATIONS

I’m looking for a single person, couple or family who have a willingness to spend the summer in a beautiful remote location, Yeoman Park Campground. There is no cell service at this site. Host may drive a FS vehicle and would then need to acquire a government DL. Otherwise, the host would use their own vehicle to travel throughout the campground performing maintenance duties. Having small engine skills is helpful. FS provides all equipment: weed whacker, hand tools, garbage bags, water sprayers, all cleaning supplies, Personal Protective Equipment, etc.
