DESCRIPTION:
Primary duties for this position are providing grounds-keeping services such as: mowing, trimming and weed pulling. The duties may require the use of operating string-trimmers, operating riding lawnmowers, using manual and power tools, machines, UTVS, and chemicals to clear vegetation. There will also be opportunities, if interested, to engage with the public and/or assist with the management of natural and cultural resources on JMR.

Time Commitment: Volunteers for this position will be asked to commit to 24 hours a week during their term of service. Schedule is flexible between 0700-1630, Monday thru Friday.
Must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer for this position. Prior grounds-keeping experience preferred.
Vehicle Operation: Volunteer must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to comfortably operate a riding lawnmower, a 4×4 Truck, and a 4×4 Polaris-Style UTV (training will be provided). Volunteer may be required to operate these vehicles on improved roads near the Office, as well as off-road (in soft sand and brush).

Physical Demands: This position requires significant physical effort with frequent moving and lifting of objects weighing up to fifty pounds, in addition to continuous standing, walking, bending, and reaching. At times this may include working in uncomfortable or awkward positions for extended periods. In addition, the volunteer may need to climb stairs and ladders, work on uneven surfaces, and be on their feet for extended periods of time.
Housing: The Project will provide partial RV/Trailer hookup, including 50 or 30 amp electric, water, septic, picnic table, and an established pad. Volunteers must provide their own RV or trailer. There is no cable TV or phone hookup at the volunteer RV/Trailer site, although past volunteers have successfully used their own satellite dishes. Government computers are not available for personal internet use.
