Job Description
We have an immediate camp host opening for a single or a duo team at our small glampsite in Northern California (just outside of Portola, CA). Very sadly our veteran host unexpectedly passed away :(, so we are looking for the right party to partner with us for our fast-approaching season.
The ideal timeframe for this position is mid May through mid October.
Our ideal camp host(s) is friendly, reliable, has experience cleaning, and takes initiative to solve problems and keep the camp running smoothly. Maintenance experience is a plus. We conduct background checks and contact references.
We include a campsite with FHU (water, sewer, and 30 amps) and all hours paid ($20/hour via W2). 35ft is the maximum trailer length we can fit in the host spot.
The main duties include housekeeping (flipping the cabins and yurt and cleaning the bathhouse) and light maintenance. This includes weekly trips to the laundromat in town. Hours vary depending on bookings, but cleaning is usually 10-20 hours/week and light maintenance may vary between 2-5 hours/week.
*Note if you are a single person unable to perform all the tasks, but meet all the other requirements, please feel free to contact us. We’ve had arrangements where a separate cleaner comes to the property to flip the units and the host focuses on other tasks.
Host/s should be attentive to guests needs and the needs of the property. The camp is set up to be as self-sufficient as possible, but we’d love to work with someone who enjoys checking in on guests, setting up a campfire, ensuring the property is ready for guests, etc.
Beckwourth Peak High Camp is on Beckwourth Peak (5,300 ft) and is totally off grid. We just have two small cabins, a yurt, and a two-bathroom bathhouse. See our website for more photos of the units.
We cater to lots of cyclists, families, and people in the area for golfing or a wedding. And, this year, we are opening a disc golf course on the property.
The town of Portola (population 2K) is just a 7-min drive and has restaurants and grocery stores. The Lost Sierra is a beautiful area with lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. Reno NV is less than an hour away.
