Steck Park Campground Host – SW Idaho near Weiser, Idaho

Camphost (or couples) needed for May to mid-September. The Bureau of Land Management is seeking a host to manage Steck Park on Brownlee Reservoir (Snake River). Work is a minimum 30 hours per week, with most duties between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, with no significant physical and mental condition that would prevent the volunteer from carrying out these duties, and pass a background check. Volunteers live on-site and answer visitor questions, provide directions and other assistance, explain fee payment procedures, educate visitors about campground rules, weed and litter control. Host work will primarily be to water the area by moving hoses/sprinklers around, mow grass, and clean restrooms. Volunteers do not perform skilled maintenance duties except in emergencies. Full service campsite provided for no charge (water, sewer, electric service – the water system at Cove Recreation Site currently has a malfunction). Volunteers provide their own lodging (i.e. RV or camp trailer). Camp-rate reimbursements will be provided, and other work related expenses will be reimbursed. 

 

DUTIES

Be a positive presence to visitors, clean restrooms, prune shrubs and small trees, mow lawn, water the vegetation

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Average fitness would be necessary to perform duties.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The campground does experience several high temperature (95-105F) month in July-September. The work duties are fairly easy as the use is medium in May-June and low in July-September.
