DESCRIPTION:
White Sands National Park seeks volunteers available to assist maintenance of facilities, including custodial projects, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash containers, ensuring park is free of litter, and other more complex maintenance projects within your abilities.

- Custodial projects
- General property maintenance such as custodial upkeep of park buildings, restrooms, and grounds.
- Emptying trash containers and helping to keep the park is free of litter.
- More complex maintenance projects within your abilities.
- Volunteers are required to wear provided uniform when in public contact.
- May perform a variety of other duties.
- Minimum hours required:
- Volunteers that live onsite each must work a minimum of 32 hours per week in exchange for RV space and full hookup utilities.
- Volunteers who do not live onsite hours per week are negotiable. .
- Willing to work days, including weekends and holidays.
- Desire to talk with and inform the public about rules and regulations.
- Must wear NPS volunteer uniform.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
- Valid driver’s license
The nature of this position requires standing/walking for an extended amount of time both in indoor and outdoor settings. VIPs will work under a variety of environmental conditions that include, but are not limited to, high and low temperatures, wind, blowing sand, thunderstorms, rain, and intense sun. This position may include work that takes place in the evening hours after sunset.
