DESCRIPTION:

Looking for 2 couples to fill the Grounds Maintenance position from April 15, 2023 – Sept 30, 2023

 

Ground maintenance includes mowing, irrigating with self-tappers, cleaning bbq stands and picnic tables, picking up trash and placing lifejackets back on “loaner board”. 2. Park Host on the weekend includes checking in with visitors that stop to picnic and go boating. You will be reminding visitors about a few of the main rules, let them know which volunteer site is on duty at the time, and just being eyes and ears for the rangers.

 

 

DUTIES
· Beginning of season clean picnic tables, and pick up branches

· Mowing, irrigating, weed eating, picking up trash and cleaning bbq stands and picnic tables

· Open gate at 6am and close gate 10:00pm (Only open to the public-Fri-Sun and Holidays that fall on Monday)

· On call throughout the night

· Inform rules to campers

· Chlorine water test

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS
· Desire to work 7 hours per day, 3 days on/3 days off, and live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV.

· Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds.

· Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps.

· Ability to remain calm in busy situations.

· Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and carry for 25 feet and work in the heat.

· Visually able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
