DATES: 10/21/2024 – 4/20/2025

DEPT: National Park Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The park is seeking a qualified volunteer or volunteer couple to work in partnership with the interpretation and education division providing visitor services at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Duties will include orienting visitors to the park and its incredible resources at the visitor center, or outdoor contact stations or while tabling at community events. Volunteers will research and present interpretive programs such as patio talks at the Kris Eggle Visitor Center, evening programs in the Twin Peaks Campground, or specialty programs such as guided walks, hikes, or sunset photography. Volunteers will work with rangers coordinating special events in the park and in the surrounding communities.

Volunteers will be scheduled for 32-hours of service per week each and in exchange will be offered a site in the park’s volunteer RV campground. Sites include all utility hook-ups and within the volunteer campground is a community room with Wifi, laundry facilities, showers and freezers.

Winters in the Sonoran Desert are magical with warm sunny days and cool evenings. The park enjoys some of the darkest skies in North America offering incredible night sky viewing. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is the heart of the Sonoran Desert, situated in the middle of an International Biosphere Reserve and with 95% of the park designated wilderness there are vast opportunities to immerse oneself in solitude, stillness and exceptional natural beauty.
