Job Description

Armitage Campground is located in Lane County’s Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area, Armitage is a 64-acre oasis a few miles south of historic Coburg on the McKenzie River.

Lane County Parks is seeking individuals or couples to serve as Campground Hosts.  Up to two (2) positions are available at Armitage Park & Campground.

Hosts are volunteers who live in the campground full-time and assist site Caretakers and Parks staff in the day to day operations of the campground. They are responsible for site management of campground, day use and marina, reservations and sales, providing a site presence and representing Lane County Parks. This is a volunteer position for 20 hours weekly, 5 days on and 2 consecutive days off, plus 7-day a week night time presence in exchange for an RV site with full hook ups (water, electricity and sewer).

Term: Now – October 31, 2023

 

Position duties:

• Greet visitors, answer questions and be readily accessible to the public.

• Represent Lane County Parks in a professional and appropriate manner at all times.

• Manage and assist with reservations for a 38 site campground, and day use picnic and shelter areas.

• Sell approved point of sale items; firewood, ice, annual and day parking passes.

• Perform janitorial duties as assigned per frequency and schedule provided by Lane County Parks.

• Perform grounds maintenance as assigned per frequency and schedule provided by Lane County Parks.

• Contact park staff or law enforcement personnel when emergencies or activities within the park area that warrant them. Provide a site presence and notify Lane County of emergency situations.

• Understand and explain rules to park visitors to encourage voluntarily compliance.

• Ensure site safety and perform daily inspections of campsites, gates, restrooms, showers and other facilities.

 

Other:

• Maintain a tidy host site and a professional, approachable appearance.

• Long absence are not permitted.

• Other specific duties as agreed upon with park staff.

• Once contracted, all Hosts must provide proof of personal auto insurance: $250/$500 bodily injury and property damage liability

 

Qualifications and required experience:

• Strong customer service experience

• Proficient experience in cash handling

• Proficient in email and basic computer skills preferred

• Experience with janitorial and grounds keeping is preferred.

• Ability to operate duties as assigned.
