Job Description

Volunteer Summer Host/Caretaker position at Lost Creek State Park (fwp.mt.gov/stateparks/lost-creek) with a monthly stipend of $100 and a free RV site for the 2025 season. Inquire at Stateparkvolunteers@mt.gov, or contact the park manager directly for details including the application process. A few things of note include:

·         RV/trailer length is limited to 23 feet.

·         Electricity provided by a generator for the hosts but is not available 24/7.

Duties:

There are 25 campsites that are available on a first come, first served basis. Volunteer duties include but are not limited to:

·         Daily interactions with visitors to the state park,

·         Caretaking duties, and

·         Report any incidents or hazards to the direct supervisor.

Location:

Lost Creek State Park is located in the Flint Mountain Range just outside of the town of Anaconda. Spectacular grey limestone cliffs and pink and white granite formations rise 1,200 feet above the canyon’s narrow floor. Lost Creek Falls, in the northwest corner of the park, cascades over a 50-foot drop to provide one of the most scenic and popular spots in the park. Wildlife, golden eagles and bighorn sheep are frequently seen on the cliffs above, and pika are often seen and heard in the rock piles in the upper park. Camping, fishing, picnicking, bicycling and wildlife viewing is available. There is also a Forest Service trail just north of the falls parking area. The trail winds for several miles along Lost Creek through forests and meadows with great views of the surrounding mountains.
