Job Description

Volunteer Summer Host/Caretaker position at Lone Pine State Park with a free RV site for the 2025 season. Inquire at Stateparkvolunteers@mt.gov, or contact the park manager directly for details including the application process.

Duties:

Volunteer duties include but are not limited to:

·               Daily interactions with visitors to the state park,

·               Opening the main gate in the morning and locking it at night (RV site is within the park)

·               Caretaking duties, and

·               Report any incidents or hazards to the direct supervisor.

Location:

Lone Pine State Park is 5 miles southwest of Kalispell. There are 7.5 miles of trails available for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and horseback riding. Park visitors will be sure to find a great hike to revitalize their soul and a peaceful spot to relax and view area wildflowers, wildlife and breath-taking overlooks of the Flathead Valley. A walk through the visitor center provides a tour of the wildlife and forest ecology within the park. The visitor center contains a spacious meeting room with audio visual equipment and wrap around decks with beautiful vistas. It’s an ideal spot for a meeting or social gathering. Regular adult workshops, children’s activities and interpretive programs make Lone Pine an exciting stop for school field trips, residents and out-of-state visitors. Find out more about educational opportunities by contacting the park office. The site covers 279 acres and ranges between 2,959 feet and 3,644 feet in elevation.
