JOB DESCRIPTION:

Volunteer with us at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge!

 

This 10,000-acre refuge was established in 1953 for use as an inviolate sanctuary for migratory birds. The refuge also serves as an ideal destination for recreation. As a designated Important Bird Area, it is a place of global significance for migratory waterfowl.

 

We are seeking to fill one RV pad for the 2025 season. There is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, mostly focusing on maintenance projects. We are flexible on exact volunteer dates. We will consider couples if we can find an appropriate volunteer position for your partner.

 

This volunteer position requires each individual work at least 24 hours per week (typically three 8-hour days) for a minimum of 3 months. Duties will vary throughout the year, but common duties may include maintaining facilities, landscaping, mowing, and trail maintenance.

 

Desired (but not required) qualifications include:

  • ATV/UTV training
  • Equipment operation training or experience
  • Experience performing basic maintenance tasks
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Specialized trade experience welcome (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, etc.)
