JOB DESCRIPTION:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently seeking volunteers to fill the Howell Station Relief Custodian Volunteer position for the 2025 Spring/Summer recreation season at Lake Red Rock in Knoxville, Iowa. Join our awesome team of 60 workcampers and enjoy scenic views and quiet living at Iowa’s largest lake. A free, full-service campsite at Howell Station Campground is provided in exchange for service averaging approximately 20-24 hours per week.
Service is provided 4 or 5 days per week with Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and every other Saturday off.
Howell Station Campground includes two one day use area with a fish cleaning station, comfort stations, a playground, and a boat landing. Howell Station is a popular campground located on the Des Moines River below the Red Rock Dam. It features 143 campsites, 5 shower buildings, 2 playgrounds and is bordered by an asphalt trail.
A utility vehicle will be provided to perform work duties, and the volunteer will be reimbursed for any travel by personal vehicle as required to perform service. All training, equipment, supplies, and uniforms will be provided.
